Malbec's full-bodied nature makes it the perfect match for hearty dishes like roasted game meats, lamb, and pork, as well as fatty cuts of red meat like Striploin, Flank, and Rump. About the Producer

Founded in 2003, Andeluna produces premium mountain wines from their 70-hectare vineyard situated at an elevation of 1,300 metres in the rocky terroir of Gualtallary, Tupungato in the Uco Valley, Mendoza. By night, the moon can be seen illuminating the magnificent Andes Mountains nearby and the winery has been named after this stunning scene. The vineyard is managed using sustainable practices and in 2015 the entire vineyard was soil mapped with cultivation methods adapted accordingly. Since 2020, the vines have been certified organic. Winemaker, Manuel Gonzalez (previously Head Winemaker at Pulenta Estate and Chief Oenologist at Trivento) works alongside Andeluna's wine consultant Hans Vinding Diers, together they use minimal intervention to create outstanding wines which have propelled this producer into the global spotlight in a very short space of time.

Vineyard and Winery

'Raices' translates as Estate and the grapes for this wine come from vineyards located in the Uco Valley, Mendoza at an altitude of 700 metres above sea-level. The soils are poor in organic matter, which encourage the vines to send their roots deep into the soil in search of nutrients and water, resulting in subtle complexity. The climate is warm, with very little humidity, a combination which provides naturally ideal conditions for premium viticulture. The espalier-trained vines are irrigated in furrows and the pruning and canopy management is tailored to each site, to ensure the yields are kept low, thus the vines produce bunches of small berries with concentrated fruit flavours and aromas. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably to protect the biodiversity of the flora, fauna and the soil and to preserve the land for future generations.

The fruit was carefully selected and the grapes were destemmed. Fermentation took place with natural and selected yeasts, in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at approximately 26°C. Youthful in style, the wine was matured in stainless steel tanks for two months to retain the fruity expression and varietal characteristics of Malbec.
