Dueling Pistols Petite Sirah Cabernet Sauvignon has beautiful depth of colour on a 2016, most likely as a result of the 12 to 15 days of skin contact in the fermentation vessel. The wine could be described as cerebral and features dark fruit aromas balanced with floral and spicy notes. It starts off jammy on the palate and has a densely packed balance of flavour and mouthfeel with a core of soft tannins. The finish lingers delightfully and lends itself to the thought-provoking nature of the wine as a whole.
The Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah were fermented separately and after malolactic fermentation, were blended together prior to aging in French Oak barrels (20% new oak) for 15 months, 20% new oak.
