Fettercairn 16 Years Old (3rd Release 2022) Single Malt Whisky features an amber gold colour with sunrise flecks. Its taste carries dried exotic fruits, lightly syruped figs, grapefruit, and mature oak notes. Its finish is a blend of sunkissed raisins, ripe guava, patisserie spices, cocoa qualities, natural vanilla, moist ginger cake, passion fruit, and baked apple, all with a subtle hint of roasted coffee.
Each release of Fettercairn 16 year old single malt will showcase a maturation journey that enhances the tropical distillery character derived from the copper cooling ring distillation process. The 2022 release brings together spirit from Sherry matured and Sherry finished casks. A hand-picked trilogy of 1st and 2nd fill Oloroso, Pedro Ximenez and ex-Bourbon casks finely balanced to accentuate the beauty of the tropical house style.
About the Producer
The founder of Fettercairn, Sir Alexander Ramsay was one of the Scottish landowners who campaigned to license Scotch Whisky distillation. In 1824, he was one of the first to apply for a license, and the Fettercairn distillery was opened.
But despite Ramsay’s campaigning for regulation, he was a canny businessman, and he recruited illegal whisky makers to be his first stillmen. He recognised only they had the knowledge and skills he needed. So, from the very beginnings, they have been doing things a little differently in the pursuit of great whisky.
