The Federalist 1776 Zinfandel has a deep purple appearance, and features aromas of red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry alongside plum and brambles and backed up by black pepper and cinnamon. The palate is full and confirms the nose, there is a very pleasing juiciness and a long finish follows. A good tannin structure and nice cleansing acidity show the quality of the winemaking. 12 months in oak, a quarter of which is new, lends a spice as well as a smoothness and feels beautifully integrated on the palate.
This wine will pair very well with roast belly pork, any spicy stew and a big piece of Pumpkin pie.
