San Marzano 'Tramari' Rosé di Primitivo is a perfect refreshing Summertime rosé from Salento, with its pale, delicate colour and vibrant bouquet of wild cherries and raspberries there is a huge amout to like. The herbaceous whisper of Mediterranean maquis adds aromatic complexity to this elegantly balanced wine. Slightly off-dry with a crisp, refreshing finish, it pairs beautifully with Italian antipasti, fish soups, roasted or baked fish en papillote, and fresh to lightly aged cheeses.
About the Producer
In 1962, 19 passionate vine growers from San Marzano, whose families had farmed the land for generations, joined together to form 'Cantine San Marzano'. This cooperative quickly flourished and now boasts over 1,200 diverse and high-quality vine growers. The winery embraces modern, tech-forward vinification techniques, creating sophisticated wines that honor Apulian wine customs. The harmonious blend of time-honored practices, fervor, and modern techniques enable this winery to create wines with unique varietal and regional attributes, while embodying the area's terroir. In 2021, San Marzano was awarded the ‘Cooperative Winery of the Year Award’ by Gambero Rosso.
Vineyard and Winery
The vineyard is approximately 100 metres above sea level, with high average temperatures and medium-low rainfall. The soft soil layer is clayey and quite thin, with a good presence of rocks. The grapes are harvested during the first week of September when they have reached optimal ripeness.
Skin contact maceration took place for several hours, followed by a partial drawing off the must. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving the aromatics and fruitiness of the Primitivo variety. Ageing then continued in stainless steel to retain freshness
