Est. 1874, Dundee

Some things are worth doing properly. For over 150 years, Aitken's has been one of them.

Founded in Dundee in 1874, we are one of the city's oldest businesses — and one of its most enduring. What began as a local wine merchant has grown, generation by generation, into a destination for wine lovers across the UK. Four generations of the Aitken family shaped this business, instilling a belief that great wine deserves great care: in how it's selected, how it's stored, and how it's shared.

A New Chapter

When the last of the Aitken family retired a decade ago, the business passed into the hands of people who share that same conviction. Patrick has led the business as director for over 20 years, and today Stuart runs day-to-day operations alongside Euan, who you'll find in the store — knowledgeable, passionate, and always ready to help you find exactly the right bottle.

The name has changed hands, but the values haven't.

What We Sell — and Why

Our range is deliberately eclectic. You'll find the great classics — Burgundy, Bordeaux, Barolo, Rioja — alongside producers you may never have encountered before: small estates, emerging regions, and winemakers doing something genuinely exciting.

We don't follow trends. We follow quality, character, and the story behind the bottle. Every wine we stock has earned its place on our shelves.

Wine is best understood through experience, and we've built a tasting programme that reflects that. From intimate tutored tastings led by our own team to evenings with visiting winemakers and wine experts from around the world, our events are designed to educate, inspire, and — above all — to be enjoyed.
