AVAILABILITY: 4 in stock

Château Tayac Margaux is a stylish, thoroughly modern style of Margaux. This blend leans towards Cabernet Sauvignon, as you’d expect, fleshed out with Merlot, and with a splash of Petit Verdot to add grippy tannins and a depth of colour

Bright and attractive, redolent of blackberries, cassis, and blackcurrant leaves, with well-integrated oak adding a mocha note to the finish.  Deep and rich red in colour, with an open, complex nose of liquorice, cinnamon touches and pencil lead to the fine blackcurrant core. Plenty of concentration on the palate.

Serve Château Tayac Margaux with roast lamb served pink with herbs, or a rare sirloin steak.

About the region and producer

Château Tayac's vineyards cover an area of 37 hectares, on the gravelly soils around Soussans. In the Portet family for 4 generations, this is very much a family affair. Guy Portet uses the Méthode Cousinié; a system of observation and analysis to maintain optimum vineyard health with minimal treatments. Nicolas Portet is the winemaker; the wine style is harmonious and well-balanced allowing the excellent quality of the fruit to shine through.

At Château Tayac, Guy Portet employs the Cousinié method to monitor the condition of his vines. It is a holistic technique, involving the biochemical mapping of soils and the analysis of the leaves and trunks of the vines, to intervene as little as possible whilst working to rebalance the biodiversity and composition of the soil, improving the health of the vines, and strengthening their natural defences against diseases and pests.

Vineyard and Wine Making

If you are looking for something a little Special

My Italian brother-in-law says that life is too short to drink bad/cheap wine. I would therefore expect to find several bottles of this Margaux in his wine rack. I enjoy the red wines from the Bordeaux region, and as you might expect there is a broad range of quality- by and large to get what you pay for, with some well-kept secrets. This wine is really enjoyable with a good flavour that is not overpowering. It will go well with red meats, and I found even it to be more enjoyable the next day when I was finishing it off. I could have expected to have paid more for this than I did. If you are looking for a claret that is a bit more special then I can recommend this to you. You should not be disappointed ( but don't tell everyone).
