Earth Day Friendly Wines!

Earth Day Friendly Wines!

Earth Day Network’s mission is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world. But did you know that you can give back to the planet with the purchase of some of our wines! We’re going to look at 4 wines, whose creators’ giveback to the environment with every bottle you buy!

Lunaria:

Lunaria’s Ruminat Primitivo has also been a popular wine for us. It’s full on red and black fruit flavours, excellent with a BBQ and is smooth and grippy. The same popularity is awarded to its sister white – Civitas Pecorino. This zesty white has done extremely well in The Wine Press’ Enomatic machines in the past, and we think Pecorino is a hugely under-rated grape.

With every bottle you buy of both of these wines Lunaria contribute to improving the WWF Life Euroturtles project! Turtle’s nesting sites are threatened by habitat loss caused by development for tourism, intensive beach use, predation by dogs, foxes and other animals favoured by human presence. At foraging grounds, sea turtles are incidentally caught and killed in high numbers by fishing gears. This project aims to improve connections and proactivity on key conservation aspects among 6 key EU countries.

Lunaria wines are also organic, using minimal chemical intervention to reduce harm to the soil and other plant life around the vineyard. AND each wine is sealed by a social co-op “Il Sole” using the traditional “spago rosso” technique. This project aims to capture the general interest of the community, increase interest in manual skills and the social integration of citizens with particular reference to people with psychological and physical/sensory disabilities.

Painted Wolf:

As seen on David Attenborough’s Dynasties, these wild African dogs are South Africa’s most endangered carnivore, and there are only 6600 left in the world.  With every bottle of Painted Wolf Pinotage (also available at The Wine Press!) and Sauvignon Blanc sold Pained wolf donate a portion of the profits to the conservation of this beautiful animal. The red is full on, luscious, and packed with black fruit flavours, and the Sauvignon Blanc stands up to comparison as well. Zippy and Fresh, it’s a brilliant wine for drinking in the garden with friends!

So give back to the Earth and enjoy a wee glass of wine! Win Win!
