This Dandelion Vineyards 'Legacy of Australia' XXXO Pedro Ximénez is sure to delight with its deep amber/ochre fading to a rusty orange hue and extraordinary nose of crème brulée, citrus peel, maple syrup, almonds, figs, and raisins. Its sweetness and richness on the palate is balanced by its vibrant acidity and flavours of candied fruit, citrus, apricot, dried figs, and toffee.

A lusciously sweet dessert wine which is perfect for a wide range of puddings.  Whether it is poured over your ice cream, used to accompany and enhance the chosen sweet course at the end of the meal or just enjoyed and discussed with a pal, this is a wine to savour.

About the Producer

Dandelion Vineyards is the venture of self-titled ‘typist’ Zar Brooks and his winemaking wife Elena, with wines made from the Barossa and Eden Valleys, Fleurieu, the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale. Nick Stock, one of Australia’s leading journalists, has described Dandelion as follows: “Brooks has teamed up with his winemaking wife Elena, a woman whose talents are outweighed only by her tolerance, in an exciting new venture called Dandelion Vineyards. The approach is remarkably simple and sees Elena making wine from a suite of beautiful old vineyards across that blessed curve that runs from the Barossa, up through the Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills and down into McLaren Vale.”

Vineyard and Winery

The vines for this rare XO Pedro Ximenez have an average age of 30 years. Vigneron Carl Lindner's family have being growing PX and producing the fortified wine there since 1944.

Traditionally made using artisanal winemaking practices, this wine is hand blended and bottled without fining or filtration.

Already looking for an engagement ring!

As my first port of call that's sweet enough to willingly drown in, this Dandelion PX is at the higher end of what a port should taste like. Notes of apricot and raisins and late night cinema showings bathed in caramel butter popcorn - it's difficult to tell you something about this that I'm not madly in love with! A full bodied liquid dessert that pairs so well with cheese you'd think they were dating.

Fruity, rich, and sweet - vote for Pedro.
