Critically Acclaimed Wines

At Aitken's we all hold at least the WSET (Wines and Spirits Education Trust) Level 3 Certificate and we like to think we know what we are talking about when it comes to the fine selection of beverages on our shelves. We attend Trade tastings every Spring and Autumn and if a wine is on our website, in our store, or on the menu at The Wine Press in the centre of Dundee, then at least one of us has tasted it and chosen, based on quality level and price-point to make it available to you.

You should certainly feel comfortable taking our word for it but if further confirmation is required, then the following Collection is perhaps the little extra help you need.  Listed below are all the wines we have found that have been reviewed by renowned Critics in the World of Wine. Some critics score the wines out of 20, some out of 100 and some give it star ratings. As we find more reviews we will add to this Collection but in the meantime we have mostly accessed JancisRobinson.com and Decanter Magazine.  These are two of the most widely respected judges in our industry.

The wines are also usually reviewed in categories, so a £10 wine with a score of 90Pts, while outstanding in its own way, is not quite going to provide the same experience as a £20 wine with an equivalent score.
