Tasting Notes & Pairing Suggestions
On the nose, this wine opens with a distinct character of quince—the signature motif of the indigenous Kydonitsa grape—alongside ripe yellow pear, lime zest, and subtle white blossom. On the palate, the blend hits a fine balance: Kydonitsa brings roundness, weight, and ripe orchard fruit, while Assyrtiko cuts through with vibrant, mouth-watering acidity and a salty, mineral edge. It finishes clean and bone-dry. Outstanding with grilled sea bass, lemon and herb roasted chicken, crispy calamari, or a classic Greek salad with rich feta and wild oregano.
About the Producer
Ktima Dio Ipsi (meaning "Two Heights Estate") is a boutique winemaking project based in the Peloponnese. Born out of a collaboration between experienced winemakers Vassilis Pyrgakis and Yiannis Karavitakis in partnership with the Strofilia group, the estate focuses on breathing new life into native Greek grapes. Their philosophy is simple: champion local varieties in high-elevation sites to craft pure, expressive wines that offer honest value and a true sense of place.
Vineyard & Winery
The fruit is grown in the Ilia region of the western Peloponnese, where low-yielding vineyards benefit from cooling maritime air off the Ionian Sea. This sea breeze moderates the summer heat, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining essential natural acidity. In the winery, the grapes undergo gentle pneumatic pressing followed by cool, temperature-controlled fermentation strictly in stainless steel vats. A brief period of maturation on fine lees adds a subtle texture to the palate while keeping the pure fruit flavours and mineral drive firmly at the forefront.
