Banfi 'Centine' Toscana Rosso has a deep red colour with subtle mauve highlights. The fresh, sweet bouquet has bramble and ripe cherry aromas intermingling with hints of cocoa, tobacco, and licorice. This wine offers an elegant and balanced profile, featuring a medium-bodied, soft structure and a long, persistent finish. Versatile in style, it complements savoury starters and meat dishes alike, while its approachable character makes it an ideal choice for casual aperitifs and informal gatherings.

About the Producer

Founded in 1978 by the vision of Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani, Banfi represents a superb marriage of winemaking passion and technological innovation. In collaboration with Ezio Rivella, one of Italy's most eminent winemakers, the land purchased in Montalcino was transformed into a crucible of quality and potential. The subsequent acquisition of the historic Piedmontese winery Bruzzone, further enriched the portfolio. Banfi is committed to responsible environmental stewardship and has obtained the sustainable Equalitas certification, at organisational and product level, for some productions. Their Brunello di Montalcino Poggio all’Oro 2016 was the first Brunello di Montalcino to obtain this certification. This legendary producer has a pioneering spirit, and their series of quintessential wines are not only world class, but they also perfectly encapsulate their terroir.

Vineyard and Winery

Typical Tuscan soils with clay, sands and pebbles, mainly spur cordon trained. Spring was characterised by dry weather with temperatures several degrees above the seasonal average, especially in May. In Summer, lack of rainfall and torrid temperatures marked June, July and most of August but rain fell in late August which prevented dehydration of the grapes. Merlot harvest began on the 2nd of September, Sangiovese in the following week, and Cabernet Sauvignon, a later variety, began to be picked on the 1st of October.

Fermentation in temperature-controlled (25-30°C) stainless steel tanks followed by 8 months ageing in 350 l. French oak barrels (30% new).
