Linkwood has long been considered one of Speyside’s quintessential hidden gems. Founded in 1821 outside Elgin, the distillery produces a spirit revered for its fragrant floral esters, crisp orchard fruits, and pristine balance. Featured in our Glens & Valleys series, this 2010 vintage spent 14 years maturing before receiving an artful Pedro Ximénez hogshead finish. Rather than overwhelming Linkwood’s gentle character, the PX cask wraps the delicate green-apple and blossom profile in a luxurious coat of honeyed sweetness and dried stone fruits. With only 285 bottles drawn from Cask #301242, it represents Speyside finesse at its most opulent.
Nose: Bright honeysuckle, blossom honey, and orchard fruits layered over baked red apples, soft sultanas, and polished cedar.
Palate: A silky, mouth-coating texture. Concentrated flavours of dried apricots, dates, and candied orange zest meld seamlessly with Linkwood’s grassy freshness and sweet malted barley. Soft background spices emerge gently without overpowering the fruit.
Finish: Long and poised. Elegant wood spice, vanilla pod, and lingering dark grape sweetness fade into a clean, floral-edged dryness.
