Tasting Notes & Serving Suggestions
Pours clear with a faint, natural golden sheen. The nose opens with an immediate lift of freshly sliced, ripe mango, passion fruit pulp, and candied citrus peel, underpinned by the clean, faintly sweet grain character of the spirit itself.
On the palate, it avoids the syrupy cloying weight often associated with flavoured vodkas. Instead, you get a clean, silky mouthfeel packed with authentic tropical fruit—intense Alphonso mango flesh, a dash of lime zest, and soft vanilla cream. The finish is crisp, long, and gently warming, leaving behind a clean trace of fresh fruit stone and cracked black pepper rather than synthetic sweetness.

About the Producer
Desi Daru was founded by British-Indian entrepreneur Mohit Singh with a clear ambition: celebrate the meeting point of British distilling heritage and India's rich culinary pantry. The name itself translates informally from Hindi to "country spirit" or "home brew"—a nod to everyday social rituals, gatherings, and celebrations.
Rather than chasing artificial extracts or bulk-produced bases, the team built their brand around honest, top-tier raw ingredients and zero compromise on flavour. Their Alphonso Mango Vodka quickly proved the strength of that philosophy, taking home the title of World's Best Flavoured Vodka at the World Vodka Awards shortly after launching.
Distillery & Production
Base Spirit & Distillation:
The foundation of the liquid is distilled in Oxfordshire from locally harvested English winter wheat. It is run through a custom-engineered 46-plate copper and stainless steel column still, taking the spirit to 96% ABV. This exacting process strips out harsh congeners and leaves a remarkably smooth, creamy, and pristine neutral spirit with a delicate grain sweetness.
Infusion & Finishing:
The spirit is infused with authentic Alphonso mangoes sourced directly from orchards in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra—widely regarded as the home of India's finest "king of mangoes". Only genuine fruit pulp is used, completely free from artificial flavourings, colourants, or shortcuts. The spirit is cut back to an exact 41% ABV with pure water, achieving a balance where the bold tropical fruit integrates seamlessly into the crisp wheat spirit.
