Indulge in the rich and exquisite flavours of Finn Thomson's North British 26 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky. Distilled in 1998 and bottled after time spent maturing in Sherry Cask #596163. Bursting with chocolate, caramel, and raisins, this single cask was at its sweet spot for bottling. Originally meant for blending, savour the sherried wonder of this unique and exceptional whisky.
This Finn Thomson North British 26 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky from Sherry Cask #596163 is one of 129 Bottles from a Single Cask.
The story behind selecting this North British single cask release perfectly showcases the vital role independent bottlers have in bringing the best casks of whisky to the public.
In November 2024 Finn got a message from the master blender of a highly respected whisky company who had discovered a selection of North British casks that were ‘too good’ to be lost in the blend he was creating. These were heavily sherried casks that would have altered the consistency of their house blend which required an ex-bourbon cask profile.
"After coming to one of my tasting events where I was singing the praises of North British Distillery, he invited me in to taste 8 cask samples of these sherried beauties. After nosing and sipping each one carefully, I selected 4 for adding to our family cask portfolio and knew I immediately wanted to bottle the first of which as soon as possible."
About the Producer
Finn’s 6x great-grandfather James Thomson, born in 1713, was farming by day and, as dusk falls, distilling a secret that will one day become his family’s legacy: aqua vitae, the water of life.

Representing the ninth generation, Finn Thomson is a young man who has inherited his family’s 300-year-old passion for whisky.
Thirsty to pair passion with knowledge, Finn sought opportunities to learn every aspect of the bottler’s craft: spending time with Miguel Torres in Spain and Casa Pedro Domecq in Mexico, as well as tutelage from some of Britain’s best-known Scotch whisky merchants.
Fuelled by the natural instinct for creativity and entrepreneurship that has pulsed through Thomson veins for centuries, Finn is now embarking on his biggest adventure yet. With a reverence for those who have walked before him, Finn Thomson is bringing new life to the family business. The story continues for the next generations.
