Appealing, fresh, light and easy drinking lower alcohol Pinot Grigio Rosé from Pavia. The name "Papia" is the Latin root for the Italian city of Pavia, where the grapes are sourced. Fresh and fruity with red berry aromas. Notes of strawberry and redcurrant on the palate with a bright finish. Perfect on it’s own or with summer sharing plates.
About the Producer
Established in 2003, Adria Vini is a winemaking venture jointly owned by Boutinot and Araldica Castelvero, the leading co-operative in the Monferrato hills of Piemonte. Our aim is to produce authentic, well-priced still and sparkling wines from local grape varieties. All aspects of production, from grape selection through to vinification, maturation, blending and bottling are meticulously overseen by Araldica's winemaking team of Claudio Manera and Lella Burdese. We source from a range of private growers and cooperatives, with whom we have long term relationships, principally in Veneto, Friuli, Lombardy, Sicily, Puglia, Abruzzo and Sardinia.
Vineyard and Winery
Pinot Grigio grapes are sourced from key partners in the Oltrepo Pavese region of Pavia and fermented with a final abv of around 11%. This is then blended with 15% of a ‘Chiaretto’ component (Barbera / Pinot Nero blend) which had had the fermentation deliberately stopped at 9% abv and 20 g/l sugar. The resultant wine at 10.5% abv is fruity and balanced with around 5 g/l final sugar contend giving a little more weight to the mid palate.
