A vibrant and finely textured white wine, opening with aromas of white peach, ripe pear, golden apple, and alpine wildflowers. Subtle notes of citrus zest, fresh herbs, and a gentle hint of white spice add complexity to the nose. On the palate, the wine is crisp and mineral-driven, balanced by a rounded, silky texture and refreshing mountain acidity. Elegant and persistent through the finish, with delicate orchard fruit and a clean, savoury lift. Excellent with Grilled sea bass, asparagus risotto, roast chicken, or fresh burrata with herbs.
About the Producer
Cantina Tramin was founded in 1898 and has 310 member winegrowers who follow its strict directives on the cultivation of the vines. The vineyards are an integral part of the enchanting and picturesque landscape of the Alto-Adige region of Northern Italy and cover 260 hectares situated on the sunny slopes of the region at altitudes ranging from 250 to 850 metres above sea level. In 2011, Cantina Tramin gained the "Double Stella" award - an extraordinary achievement, which is given to a winery for being awarded the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 20 times by Gambero Rosso.
Vineyard and Winery
The vineyards are located in the Südtirol, in the Alto Adige DOC. Alto Adige is a dynamic wine growing region in Northern Italy that combines a brisk Alpine climate, mountain viticulture and complex geology, with the brilliance of Mediterranean sunshine. The grapes come from vineyards planted in calcareous clay and gravel soils at an altitude of between 250 and 550 metres above sea level. The yield is 75 hectolitres per hectare.
Made by winemaker Will Stűrz, who has been previously nominated "Italian winemaker of the Year" by the prestigious Gambero Rosso and who makes some of the best white wines in Italy. The grapes for this wine were harvested in small bins and were gently pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at 19°C. No malolactic conversion took place, resulting in a fresh, crisp style of wine. The wine spent a brief time in stainless steel vats retaining the freshness and purity of fruit until bottled.
