Willowglen Gewurztraminer Riesling reveals intense tropical aromas featuring the sweet, white pulp of lychee alongside delicate rose water and a pleasant taste of Turkish delight. The generous palate is elegantly balanced by crisp lemon zest and citrus notes from Riesling, delivering a refined freshness. Its light fruitiness makes it an ideal accompaniment to Asian and spicy dishes like chicken curry or pad thai, as well as soft cheeses such as Brie, Camembert, or Feta. This blend, along with it's delicious residual sugar, makes for versatile pairings.
About the Producer
The De Bortoli family story is one of determination and triumph that started 90 years ago and is now told, generations later, across Australia.
Their heritage encompasses the universal story of immigrants making good in an adopted land, the rise and rise of the Australian wine industry and the tale of a hardworking and innovative family which considers good wine, good food and good friends to be among the true pleasures in life.
Today, as a fourth generation enters the family business, De Bortoli is amongst the top wine producers in Australia with vineyards spanning six premium wine regions.
Vineyard and Winery
Traminer blocks are selected on their lifted spicy musk and rose petal flavours to combine with the floral and citrus flavour offerings of the selected Rieslings.
Higher than average rainfall during winter and at flowering lead to a high Downy Mildew disease period which resulted in a crop reduction of around 35%. A cooler than usual ripening period and no rain during spring and summer meant there was no more disease pressure and fruit was picked at optimum ripeness. This was the latest harvest on record beginning 4 weeks later than normal.
A specialised yeast strain isolated by Institut Oenologique de Champagne is employed to highlight the varietal characteristics of the Traminer. Completed a 10-14 day ferment in stainless steel.
