Portal da Calçada Cuvee Prestige Brut NV is bright citrus yellow in colour with light golden nuances. Elegant and persistent aroma, with light brioche and dried fruit notes balanced by high salinity and minerality which is typical of the region. Good body, light toasty, complex and crisp acidity resulting in a persistent and long finish. It goes well with grilled fish and seafood dishes, poultry meat dishes.

About the Producer

Founded in 1917 in the Vinho Verde region, Calçada Wines is one of the oldest producers in the region focused especially on the production of still white and rosé wines and sparkling wines and is now the 3rd generation of the family to lead the business. In addition to producing high quality wines, Calçada brand is also synonymous with the art of hospitality - Casa da Calçada is a XVI palace converted into a luxurious hotel - it is a reference point in quality hospitality and within the property they still proudly have what is probably the oldest vineyard in the region.

Vineyard and Winery

Quinta da Calçada is located in the historic center of Amarante, 40 minutes from Porto. It is located in the sub-region of Amarante, in the Vinho Verde region, about 10 minutes from the entrance to the Douro region. This sub-region is characterized by granitic soils, with some mixtures of schist, and Atlantic influence, producing wines markedly mineral, of high freshness and great gastronomic aptitude.

The remarkable extension of vineyards – more than 50 hectares with varying ages that extend up to the beginning of the 20th century – allows us to interpret the different terroirs. Among these lands they proudly count a heritage of the rich history of Quinta da Calçada. We are talking here about a parcel of vineyard that is certified as the oldest in the Vinho Verde region – 0.5 hectares of extreme vineyard positioned on a single terrace.

From the grape varieties of Loureiro and Arinto that were gently destemmed and pressed. The extracted juice was decanted statically and fermented in stainless steel vats. Following this, a further fermentation in tank gives the wines its elegant bubbles.

Never disappoints

This is our 'go to' sparkling wine. It just works for any occasion.

If you like champagne.

This is now a favourite of ours. Dry but flavoursome, a good mousse. Better than a lot of cavas. If you like champagne try this!

Delicious, go-to dry sparkler

My favourite "have-you-tried-this-one" for sparkling wine. Bubbles just right, crisp and dry (unlike prosecco), subtle flavours with a light but savoury biscuityness predominating. I've chosen this one before as a business gift. If you like champagnes and good cavas, you need to try this, yesterday!
