This Caol Ila 2010 Cask No. 311751 Single Malt Whisky from Berry Bros. & Rudd which was finished in an Oloroso cask shines with complex notes of peat smoke, Oloroso Sherry, iodine, prunes, and dark fruits. The palate reveals layers of spicy vanilla, dried citrus, and a salty coastal breeze, while a full, oily finish lingers with lasting peat smoke. Enjoy a Caol Ila with an interplay of flavours like no other.

As a Single Cask Whisky this is one of 271 bottles.

"A robust and vigorous dram, best enjoyed with robust friends over vigorous conversation." Berry Bros. & Rudd

About the Producers

In 1846, Hector Henderson chose a remote and beautiful site to build his distillery, on the shores of the Sound of Islay overlooking the Paps of Jura. His traditional methods of malt whisky production continue to this day to ensure the distinctive quality of Caol Ila malt whisky. The barley used today is malted locally at Port Ellen and pure spring water rises from limestone in nearby Loch nam Burn, then falls to the sea at Caol Ila.

Pronounced “Cull Eela." It’s the Gaelic name for the Sound of Islay, which separates the island from Jura. For some, the distillery’s pronunciation is as remote as its location, sitting as it does on the rugged eastern coast, where it has remained hidden from view since 1846. Reopened in August 2022 after an exciting renovation project, Caol lla is The Islay Home of Johnnie Walker.

Founded in 1698, Berry Bros. & Rudd is Britain’s oldest wine and spirits merchant. Family-owned and run, the company still trades from No.3 St James’s Street, though with offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo too. With longstanding relationships with their portfolio of producers, Berry Bros. & Rudd helps collectors of fine wines and spirits build, manage and enjoy their cellars.
