In the Autumn of the year 2000, Glencadam distillery fell silent. This silence became a deep sleep for three years until its joyous “Re-Awakening” in the Autumn of 2003. This rare, 13 years old limited edition from the re-start of distillation truly represents and commemorates “The Re-Awakening” of Glencadam Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Glencadam's Aged 13 Years combines the aromas of stone fruits, baking spices, vanilla pod, and peach blossom into a delightful blend. On the palate, creamy panna cotta, custard tarts, and spice apple mingle with sweet raisin and ginger biscuit notes. Enjoy the finish of sugared almonds, panettone, and orchard fruits with a warm, lingering sweetness.
About the Producer
Glencadam Distillery was built in 1825, within the Royal Burgh of Brechin, where heritage, tradition and hand crafting combine to create an elegant East Highland Single Malt.
Glencadam is located in the ancient city of Brechin, in the Eastern Highlands of Scotland. In 2021, a working water wheel was re-installed in the heart of Glencadam Distillery, a nod back to how the distillery was powered back in 1825.
Unusually, Glencadam’s stills have lyne arms that run upwards at an angle of 15 degrees, this encourages significant reflux which helps to produce a single malt which is characterised by its tropical and orchard fruit flavours.
All their age statement whiskies are bottled at 46% and are neither chill filtered nor coloured to retain the whisky's natural characteristics.
