Stuart
Growing up in a hotel meant Stuart was immersed in the drinks industry from a young age and always thought every other kid in primary school knew how to pour a pint. After a brief foray into architecture at university he fell back into the world of food and drinks and when he got the news that a new wine bar was opening in Dundee, he jumped on board to help start up and manage The Wine Press. After really falling in love with wine while working there he realised that there is even more wine to enjoy on our shelves and hasn’t looked back since.
Fun Fact:
Once missed out on a weekend going white water rafting on the world championship rapids, with the Canadian Ambassador to Ecuador, because he’d been knocked out by a hoe whilst building a wormery and required stitches to his scalp instead.
Favourite non-wine drink:
AM: Mug of proper tea. PM: Caipirinha.
Best Wine Memory:
Watching the sunset in Châteauneuf-du-Pape whilst playing pétanque.
Top Tips for Customers: Don’t be intimidated by wine. We can’t all pronounce Puligny-Montrachet or Trockenbeerenauslese perfectly, but wine is made to be enjoyed and shouldn’t be pretentious so just enjoy exploring (drinking) the good stuff.
Favourite Grape:
It’s the obvious answer but got to say Chardonnay
