Nestled at the foothills of the Grampian Mountains in Pitlochry, Blair Athol is celebrated for producing one of the Highland region’s richest, most robustly malty spirits. For this Glens & Valleys bottling, our spirits team selected a 12-year-old parcel matured to peak vibrancy and treated to a secondary finish in a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead. The result is an indulgent dram: Blair Athol’s signature nutty chewiness serves as the canvas for dark cocoa, stewed autumn fruits, and warming baking spices. A limited single-cask yield of just 266 bottles worldwide.
Nose: Rich, dark, and autumnal. Ripe Black Mission figs, warm damson plums, and antique polished oak mingle with cracked nutmeg and allspice.
Palate: Sumptuous and layered. Bittersweet dark chocolate and plump raisins coat the palate, anchored by Blair Athol’s unmistakable roasted barley and malt character. A subtle, refreshing lift of garden mint keeps the dense sherry notes balanced.
Finish: Luxuriant and lingering. Evokes a freshly baked treacle tart cooling on an autumn afternoon, concluding with candied orange peel, toasted clove, and dry oak tannins.
