The Margaux cask is immediately apparent, as the nose greets you with stewed bramble fruits, a swirl of vanilla ice cream drizzled with raspberry coulis, and a dusting of milk chocolate shavings. Beneath, a delicate thread of caramelised sugar and polished oak adds depth. On tasting, this dram is impressively balanced, bringing forward lush red berries complemented by a smooth, creamy sweetness. A splash of water brightens it up, revealing fresh notes of crisp apples and pears. The finish is long and pleasing, as the red fruit notes gradually ease away, leaving a gentle hint of chocolate and a lightly tannic warmth.
One of only 227 bottles from a single cask.
