Experience the charm of Da Vero's Biologico Vino Rosso Nero d'Avola, with its ripe aromas of black fruit and a subtle hint of spice. Savour its generous and substantial palate—filled with rich plum and bramble fruit characters and a touch of dark chocolate and cherry compote. Its plump tannins are perfectly balanced by its fresh acidity, making it the ideal choice for hearty pasta dishes, casseroles, and grilled meats.

About the Producer

Established in 2003, Adria Vini is a winemaking venture jointly owned by Boutinot and Araldica Castelvero, the leading co-operative in the Monferrato hills of Piemonte. The stated aim is to produce authentic, well-priced still and sparkling wines from local grape varieties. All aspects of production, from grape selection through to vinification, maturation, blending and bottling are meticulously overseen by Araldica's winemaking team of Claudio Manera and Lella Burdese - assisted by Boutinot's Tony Brown MW. They source from a range of private growers and cooperatives, with whom they have built long term relationships, principally in Veneto, Friuli, Lombardy, Sicily, Puglia, Abruzzo and Sardinia.

Vineyard and Winery

The Nero d'Avola grapes are sourced from the area around Salemi (Province of Trapani) in the north-west tip of Sicily. The vines are Guyot-trained, and grown at around 250m altitude on a combination of soil types. The vineyards were converted to organic viticulture in 2007. The grapes are macerated on the skins for 8-12 days, then racked and allowed to complete malolactic fermentation.

This wine has much to commend it. It is "organic" and likely to have been produced using the best traditional or natural methods, without exposure to potentially harmful substances. Given the modest price, it is good value for money. It is a red wine with a dry/acidic taste (to my palate). I find it a little too dry for me as an accompaniment to food, but others may find it ticks their boxes.
The reason I buy it (confession time) is that I find that it is an excellent wine for cooking and making sauces that go with my red meat- I hope this does not shock you. You can not make a decent wine sauce using plonk. This wine makes a good sauce at a price that is more than acceptable.

A lovely Italian organic red

We really enjoyed this rich, fruity, Italian red. An easy drinker and always a huge plus to be organic. Let’s treat our earth right! ❤️
