Il Meridione Grillo is a delicious and easy drinking Grillo, a fantastic addition to our range. This expertly crafted wine boasts a honeyed, floral and spicy nose, complemented by sun-dried citrus and savoury notes on the palate. With a creamy texture and fresh acidity, it pairs perfectly with grilled octopus, white fish, or a classic chicken caesar salad.
About the Producer
Established in 2003, Adria Vini is a winemaking venture jointly owned by Boutinot and Araldica Castelvero, the leading co-operative in the Monferrato hills of Piemonte. The stated aim is to produce authentic, well-priced still and sparkling wines from local grape varieties. All aspects of production, from grape selection through to vinification, maturation, blending and bottling are meticulously overseen by Araldica's winemaking team of Claudio Manera and Lella Burdese - assisted by Boutinot's Tony Brown MW. They source from a range of private growers and cooperatives, with whom they have built long term relationships, principally in Veneto, Friuli, Lombardy, Sicily, Puglia, Abruzzo and Sardinia.
Vineyard and Winery
Grapes were sourced from vineyards in the coastal area of the western tip of Sicily - in Petrosino, Trapani and Marzara del Vallo areas. Vines are cultivated in chalky soils with sandy patches, and are of average age 20–25 years. Harvesting takes place late August / early September. After temperature-controlled fermentation for 30 days, the wine is filtered and bottled.
