NOSE
You are first hit with zested lemon and spicy vanilla. A strong coastal influence eventually paves the way into intense floral notes, stone and orchard fruit alongside spice.
PALATE
The palate pops with tropical and dried fruit, and features a warming smokiness with honey, malt, butterscotch and rich sweetness coming in waves.
FINISH
Sherry-soaked fruit, black pepper and sea salt. There is a lengthy finish with layers of sweet citrus and peat smoke.
Machir Bay, is the signature whisky from Kilchoman a relatively new distillery founded in 2005. This is a peated single malt vatting of Kilchoman which has been allowed to mature in barrels that previously contained Bourbon and Sherry. The use of Bourbon casks provides a clear Islay characteristic some might call Classic of the island. This is backed up by a fresh floral complexity. Machir Bay is a beautiful and popular beach and lends its name to this whisky.
