About the Producer

Founded in 2014, Shilda Winery's story began long before. Located in the Kakheti region, Shilda Winery, founded in 2014, leverages both modern facilities and traditional methods to create a diverse range of wines. Its unique location at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains offers ideal conditions for viticulture. Shilda Winery produces a diverse range of wines using unique vineyard selection and management techniques. Each trademark offers a distinct flavor profile, crafted with various harvest and winemaking methods.

Inspired by the mythological tale of Odysseus's journey to Georgian territory and his encounter with the goddess, this winery revives the ancient winemaking ritual known as Kirke's method.

The Kirke harvest tradition is a celebrated event at the winery. Under the full moon, when the grapes reach peak maturity, women carefully handpick the grapes. These grapes are then brought to the cellar before sunrise, ensuring they remain cool and intact before the crushing or pressing process.

A portion of the proceeds from each bottle sold is donated to support the discovery of the mythological region of Colchis.

Vineyard and Winery

The winery lies at the foot of the southern slope of the Caucasus Mountain range and this special climate and the diversity of the mineral-rich soil creates spectacular wines.  The Goddess is a blend of Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane and Khikhvi and shows rich apple and pear flavours with just a little vanilla from the oak ageing.  The grapes are all handpicked, exclusively by women, and only at full moon.
