Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Pours a bright, youthful ruby red with deep violet reflections at the rim. On the nose, it opens with an immediate lift of ripe red cherries, crushed wild blackberries, and damson plums, backed by subtle dried oregano, a pinch of black pepper, and faint earthiness.

The palate is plump, rounded, and wonderfully straightforward to drink. Juicy mouthfuls of sour cherry, blackcurrant, and subtle spice are carried by smooth, soft tannins and fresh acidity that keeps the fruit feeling clean and lively from first sip to last. It is medium-bodied and thoroughly approachable.

Food Pairings:

An absolute staple for honest, hearty meals. It is brilliant poured alongside stone-baked margherita or spicy pepperoni pizza, classic spaghetti bolognese, or a slow-cooked sausage and lentil stew. It also works a treat with mid-week lamb chops, shepherd's pie, or a simple plate of pecorino and crusty sourdough.

Vineyard and Winery

Viticulture & Terroir:

The fruit is grown across the sun-drenched hillsides of Abruzzo on Italy's central Adriatic coast. Nestled between the rugged Apennine mountains and the sea, the vineyards benefit from high daytime sunshine balanced by cooling coastal breezes and cold mountain down-draughts at night. This diurnal temperature shift preserves vital natural acidity in the grapes while the maritime sun ripens the skins. The vines are rooted in mineral-rich clay and limestone soils, yielding naturally balanced crops with vibrant berry aromatics.

Winemaking & Maturation:

Harvested in early autumn at optimum balance between sugar and acidity. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed before undergoing fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Maceration on the skins is kept gentle to extract deep colour and ripe fruit flavours while preventing harsh, astringent tannins. The wine is aged in oak 6 months this softens the wine rather than imparting an oaky flavour.
