Raimund Prüm Solitär Riesling Trocken is an fragrant and aromatic, showcasing notes of fresh apricot, peach, and citrus fruits like orange and lemon. Some tasters also detect hints of green apple, sherbet, and even a touch of tropical fruit like papaya and pineapple. Offers a vibrant and racy palate with a good interplay of fresh fruit flavors (peach, apricot, apple, pear, citrus) and crisp acidity. Culminates in a dry finish with a distinct minerality that lingers. The presence of slate in the Mosel vineyards contributes to this mineral character. This versatile dry riesling pairs beautifully with a wide array of dishes including, light appetisers, seafood, white meats and Asian cuisine.

About the Producer

The S.A. Prüm estate, located on the banks of the Mosel River, boasts a rich winemaking history dating back to the 12th century. Raimund Prüm, a pioneer of dry Rieslings, led the estate for many years and built its international reputation. Today, his daughter, Saskia A. Prüm, continues the family tradition of producing exceptional Mosel Rieslings.

Vineyard and Winery

S.A. Prüm exclusively cultivates Riesling grapes on the steep slopes of the Middle Mosel. These vineyards are characterized by the region's iconic steep slopes and slate soils. They are among the best sites in Germany, benefiting from excellent sun exposure and a favorable microclimate. S.A. Prüm values old vines, including ungrafted (original rootstock) Riesling vines planted by their ancestors, some dating back to 1905.

The grapes are harvested by hand, typically in mid-October. After a gentle crushing, the juice undergoes a slow, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. This process is crucial for preserving the fresh and youthful character of the Riesling. Fermentation typically lasts for four weeks. Following fermentation, the wine may undergo a period of aging on fine lees in old oak barrels (fuder), enhancing complexity and depth, before bottling. The Solitär Riesling Trocken is bottled under screwcap, a closure chosen to preserve its fresh, youthful character.
