Soleil Couchant Saint-Amour from one of the ten top sub-regional Beaujolais Crus. In fact Saint-Amour is known as the most romantic Beaujolais Cru and appropriately enough, the winemaker, Samantha Bailey, got married there.
Soleil Couchant, Saint-Amour, Cru Beaujolais is a red wine that offers a beautiful complexity and silky finish. This delightful wine has flavourful aromas of red berry fruit and a touch of savoury liquorice complemented by notes of white pepper. Enjoy it served lightly chilled with paté, roasted chicken, and soft cheeses like Brie and Camembert.

Vineyard and Winemaking
Bequeathing its name from Amor, a Roman Legionnaire who took refuge in the area after refusing to fight the Christians, and long since associated with love and romance, Saint-Amour, with its mixture of granite, schist and clay produces both soft, floral, fruit driven wines and more powerful complex wines that can be aged for up to 5 years. The vines are at least 50 years of age, with yields below the appellation maximum, and are managed following ‘High Environmental Value’ (HVE) principles. Grapes are hand-harvested and immediately cooled as they arrive at the cellar. The grapes are de-stemmed the majority of the time to gain complexity without hard tannins followed by a semi-carbonic maceration and a slow fermentation.
