Tasting Notes & Food Pairings
A bright straw yellow colour in the glass with greenish reflections. The nose opens with delicate, clean aromas of crunchy green apple, white peach, and fresh lemon peel, lifted by subtle hints of white blossom and a faint salinity.
On the palate, it is crisp, vibrant, and effortlessly thirst-quenching without feeling lean. Juicy mouthfuls of ripe pear, grapefruit, and stone fruit are carried by a flinty mineral backbone and lip-smacking acidity. It finishes clean, refreshing, and appetizingly dry, leaving that classic, quintessential Lugana nuttiness.
Food Pairings:
Brilliant served chilled as an aperitif, and even better when paired with simple, fresh seafood. Try it with a plate of pan-fried Scottish haddock or sea trout with lemon butter, grilled sea bass, or garlic king prawns. It also sings alongside a bowl of creamy asparagus risotto, pea and herb pasta, or a fresh goats' cheese salad.
About the Producer
Azienda Agricola Zamichele sits nestled in the rolling morainic hills just south of Lake Garda, around the historic village of Pozzolengo. While the modern cantina was established in 2000, the Zamichele family has farmed this land for well over a century. Today, the estate is tended by cousins and their wives with a steadfast philosophy of quiet, unconditional respect for their surroundings.
Rather than taking shortcuts with heavy chemicals, they avoid all herbicides and desiccants, maintaining grass in alternating rows between the vines. This natural approach turns their 11 hectares into a thriving haven for native wildlife, where hares, hedgehogs, and nesting pheasants share the vineyard floor. It is an honest, hands-on family farm putting soil health and biodiversity first, letting the distinctive quality of their fruit do all the talking.
Vineyard & Winery
Viticulture & Terroir:
The vines are planted across the gentle glacial hills that straddle the border of Lombardy and Veneto. Here, the dense, compact clay and limestone soils are packed with mineral salts, forcing the Turbiana vines to work deep into the earth. Lake Garda—Italy's largest lake—acts as a natural thermal regulator, buffering against sharp winter frosts and drawing away intense summer heat with regular afternoon breezes. This steady airflow keeps the fruit naturally dry, pristine, and slowly ripened with fantastic acid retention.
Winemaking & Maturation:
Grapes are hand-harvested in small crates to prevent any skin splitting before reaching the cellar. After careful sorting, the bunches undergo a gentle crushing and soft pressing to preserve pure, delicate juice. Fermentation takes place at strictly controlled cool temperatures (14–16°C) in stainless steel tanks, locking in fresh fruit aromatics and clean tension. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for roughly 3 to 4 months, most likely on its fine lees. Gentle fining and bottling is carried out ensuring maximum freshness and varietal purity.
