Emiliana Wines, Adobe and Novas
The marvellous wines created from the Emiliana Organic Vineyards meant that the producer was awarded "Winery of the Year 2016" by the Wines of Chile governing body. Emiliana is one of Chile's pioneers in organic and biodynamic winemaking and has been making some of the Country's most exciting wines in the past two decades. Since 1998, this Chilean winery has been producing award-winning wines from almost 1,000 hectares of vineyards in prime sites including Casablanca, Limarí, Maipo, Cachapoal, Colchagua and Bio Bio.
Their spectacular biodynamic vineyard and winery at Los Robles is a model that attracts visiting viticulturalists and winemakers from across the world. Emiliana's innovative wines are made with great care and attention and the results are inspiring whether you enjoy them on their own or with food ranging from party fare to fine dining.
Our Range
Adobe Wines
Adobe is a Reserva range produced with organic grapes that reflect the quality of its vineyards, always having a deep respect for the environment and its workers. Reserva in Chile does not have a great deal of meaning and is therefore not always used. It pretty much just means that wines labelled Reserva must have a minimum abv of 12%. The Adobe range is picked from Organically grown grapes grown all across Chile from Emiliana’s Vineyards. These wines perfectly represent the grape listed on the label and offer tremendous value for money. We have had many of these wines listed in our Wine Bar, The Wine Press in the centre of Dundee and continue to love selling them both in-store and online.
Novas Wines
Novas is an organic Gran Reserva range of wines reflecting the innovation, quality, and care for in the vineyards. Emiliana say about this range that when ancient astronomers observed the twinkling of the stars, they thought it meant that a new star was forming, and they called it Novas. These wines are a tribute to this patient and curious observation of nature. Gran Reserva is another term with very little meaning. In this case it is to say the wines have a minimum abv of 12.5% and for reds they must have been aged in oak for a minimum of six months prior to bottling.
Vineyards
The organic agriculture is based on a deep respect for nature and for people. Emiliana only use products from natural origins helping support the growth of the grapes and in turn the structure and definition of the wines. There are absolutely no genetically modified organisms and no toxic agricultural chemicals with materials that may contaminate the environment and put the health of workers and consumers at risk. Their vision for the last 25 years (formed in 1998) has been to foster and improve the health of our Vineyards, particularly the biodiversity, the biological cycles, and the biological activity of the soils.
In 2001 Emiliana became the first winery in Chile and seventh in the world to obtain the ISO 14001 certification. The grapes and their organic production systems continue to be certified as such. Then in 2003 Novas was launched as one of their first Organic ranges. They have not stopped there with their certificate earning exploits and are now listed as a Fair Trade producer, are certified Carbon Neutral, and have achieved Vegan certification from The Vegan Society. All this has meant they achieved a place on the list of the Top 50 Most Admired Wine Brands for 2018 according to Drinks International.
