Stift Klosterneuburg, Ried Stiftsbreite St. Laurent Ausstich is a deep ruby red colour which has star anise and gingerbread spice on the nose alongside red fruits dominated by a delicious cherry flavour typical of this extremely elegant variety. It is a red wine showcasing full flavour, perfect balance and velvety texture which leaves one waxing lyrical about its class, charm and style.
St. Laurent is a relative of Pinot Noir which helps to explain the elegance of the wines made from this variety. It was originally brought to Austria from France by Stift Klosterneuburg in the 19th century. Today it is considered to be an indigenous Austrian grape variety and is grown for this wine on 40 hectares in the single-vineyard Stiftsbreite in Tattendorf which is the largest St. Laurent vineyard in the world. The St. Laurent Ausstich is a selection of the best big oak casks of each vintage.
If you could pair Stift Klosterneuburg, Ried Stiftsbreite St. Laurent Ausstich with a season it would be Autumn. On the dining table try it with game, duck, chicken and your Sunday Roast Beef. While it is drinking beautifully now, this wine will age gracefully for 7 years or more.
