We know how daunting picking your Christmas wines can be - so we’ve tried to take some of the fuss out of it, using our 140 years of expertise!

Party Wines!
We get lots of requests for party wines at this time of year and we’re all conscious of our budget, as well as making a great impression! So here are a couple of suggestions which we think are both crowd-pleasers and wallet-pleasers.
Frivolo Prosecco
Every party needs a bit of fizz and at £7.99 (and with its handy screw cap) Frivolo Prosecco will suit all your party needs.
Top it up with a bit of gin liqueur (also sold in store) to make a quick and easy cocktail, or enjoy on its own with friends.
Primordial Soup (White and Red)
South Africa is producing great quality wines at great prices at the moment, and we think that this aromatic white and punchy, fruity red would be a great accompaniment to any dinner party, or something more casual!
At only £6.50 a bottle you can't go far wrong with these wines.

Presents!
We’ve all been there. You’re invited to a party last minute and you need to bring a bottle. Something which isn’t so cheap they know it was last minute and not too expensive you’ll be out of pocket everytime you’re invited to one. We know how popular some of you are!
Here are some perfect mid-range wines which make for great last-minute presents.
Turckheim Mayerling Brut Cremant d'Alsace
This sparkling Cremant d’Alsace from Pinot Blanc grapes makes for a fantastic present. It’s a bit more interesting than Prosecco, more budget-friendly than Champagne, and super tasty! It goes great with canapes, or as an aperitif (it’s also a great Christmas Day wine - but we’ll get onto those later.) Grab a bottle now while it's still on a great deal at just £12.99!
Montes Alpha Pinot Noir
A cracking Chilean Pinot Noir which punches so far above it’s weight. This was one of our best sellers at our Christmas tasting last year, and we can see why. It’s got a great fruitiness to it, but it’s not as serious as some of the austere Burgundian Pinot Noirs. Anyone who appreciates a good red will appreciate this!
Quickie! Sauvignon Blanc
'Quickie!' is an Australia Sauvignon Blanc with a lot of character. It’s got a great label and always does well in the Enomatic machines at The Wine Press. So not only does it look good - it tastes great! Give it a go if you like the fruitiness of the Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs, but are looking for something a little more food friendly and mellow.
The Big Day
There’s always a lot going on at a Christmas dinner. Loads of different flavours, textures and palates around that table, so wine matching can be extremely tricky.
We’ve done our best to select wines which we think will go best with your Christmas Dinner, but we encourage you to experiment to find out what you think goes best with what.

Champagne Devaux Reserve NV
If you can’t go all out at Christmas when can you, eh? Champagne Devaux is made just at the edge of Reims in France and is a beautifully light and fresh style of Champagne.

Sandeman’s White NV Port
White port sits somewhere between a red port and Manzanilla sherry. It’s got a great salinity and an almost nutty characteristic which makes it the perfect alternative accompaniment to a cheese board. However, you can also enjoy Sandeman’s as an aperitif, either chilled on its own or as a long drink! Now only £11.99, down from £14.99.
Alpha Zeta "A" Amarone
Nothing says Christmas quite like an Amarone by the fire. By using the partially dried Corvina grape to create the base of the wine before topping it up with free-run juice, this wine has bold intense flavours of dried fruits, nuts, and black fruits. Smooth, with a bit of spice, this beautiful wine is now on our shelves at £25, down from £30. Snap up a bargain while stocks last!
Bouchard Pouilly-Fuisse
You can’t go wrong with a classy Burgundy white at Christmas. This will pair excellently with most food, and is smooth yet crisp, with a little oak ageing to round out the wine and make it sing. Trust us, you’ll love it!
